We finished planting leeks yesterday, and with that, we’re more or less caught up on our spring plantings. In addition to the salad, radishes, turnips, onions, shallots, peas, spinach, tomatoes and fava beans that some of you saw at the cookout a few weeks ago, we have now set out our leeks, popcorn, kale, cauliflower, napa cabbage, pac choi, cardoons, broccoli, parsley, potatoes, more carrots and a few other things I can’t think of right now.

Leeks planted into a furrow. As they grow, the furrow will gradually be filled.

If all goes, well, this is what we’ll end up with. (From our market stand in 2006.)

Planting leeks isn’t all fun and games.
